This is the whole dairy parts catalog on one page: milking machine parts, sanitary tri-clamp fittings, gaskets, clear milk hose, valves and filters. Every category shows its size range, its materials and what the price is quoted on. Below them sits the measuring guide, which is the part that saves you a return.
Bands are the ranges the desk works from for common sizes. The quote you get depends on the exact part, the quantity and whether it is on the shelf or ordered in.
Round-bore milking liners and inflations in silicone and rubber, plus claws in two bowl sizes. The liner is the one part every cow touches twice a day. Silicone costs about double and lasts about double.
Electronic pulsators and vacuum regulators. Pulsators ship set to 60:40 at 60 pulses a minute unless you tell us your parlour runs something else. Regulators go by the reserve airflow of the system.
Centrifugal milk transfer pumps and the seal and impeller kits that keep them running. Most pump calls are a seal, not a pump, and the milk transfer pump seal kit is a fraction of the price.
Clear milk hose in PVC, cut to length or by the coil, and EPDM discharge hose assemblies built with tri-clamp ends. Assemblies are pressure tested before they leave the bench.
Ferrules, hinged clamps, elbows, tees and reducers. 304 does for most milk rooms. 316L is worth the extra where acid wash or brine is part of the day, like a cheese room.
Sanitary butterfly valves with a choice of seat, spring check valves for pump discharge, and sample cocks for pulling a tank sample without opening the lid.
Tri-clamp gaskets in four materials, and plate heat exchanger gaskets for dairy coolers and pasteurizers. The biggest-selling line in the building, and the one most often ordered in the wrong size.
CIP spray balls for tanks and vats, and brushes for claws, pipes and tubes. A spray ball is chosen by the flow your wash pump actually delivers, not by the tank's size alone.
Bulk tank outlet valves and agitator seal kits. When a tank drips, the milk truck doesn't wait, so these go out first when stock allows.
Milk filter socks and sleeves by the case, and in-line strainers with replaceable screens. The sock is the cheapest check on your milk quality you will ever buy. Look at it after every milking.
How to measure a part
Most returns in this trade come from someone ordering by what the old part looked like. A 1.5-inch and a 2-inch tri-clamp gasket look the same in a photo taken from a metre away. A caliper doesn't lie. If you don't own a set of dial calipers, a steel rule held flat against the part and photographed straight on gets us most of the way.
Measure in millimetres where you can. Inches are fine too, but write which one you used. Measure the worn part and, if you can reach it, the thing it fits onto. The ferrule tells us more than the gasket that sat on it for three years.
Photo tip: put the part on a plain surface next to a ruler, shoot from straight above, and send two pictures, one of the whole part and one close on the worn edge.
Measure the mouthpiece bore, the hole the teat goes into, in mm. Then the overall length and the shell it fits. A photo of the mouthpiece end-on against a ruler usually settles it.
Bowl volume, 300 cc or 450 cc, and the OD of the short milk tube nipples. Count the air vent holes if there are any.
Measure the ferrule face OD, not the tube. 50.5 mm is a 1.5-inch clamp, 64 mm is 2-inch, 91 mm is 3-inch, 119 mm is 4-inch. Then tell us the material and the hottest wash it sees.
Tube OD, face OD, and for ferrules the overall length so we know short weld from long weld. Say whether the line is 304 or 316L if you know.
Inside diameter first, then outside. Cut a clean end and measure across it. A crushed or stretched end reads 1–2 mm wrong. Give the length you need, and the end fittings for an assembly.
Photograph the pump plate. Make, model, serial and hp are what we match on. If the plate is gone, measure the impeller diameter and the shaft diameter.
For pulsators, the ratio and rate your parlour runs and the number of outlets. For regulators, the vacuum pump's rated airflow in cfm and the operating vacuum.
Line size, end type (clamp, weld or threaded), current seat material and handle style. For a check valve, which way the flow runs.
Tank make and capacity from the tank plate, outlet size, and for an agitator seal the shaft diameter in mm at the seal.
Strainer tube length and diameter for socks. For an in-line screen, the housing size and the mesh you run now, 40 to 100.
These are the published bands the estimator uses. Quantity breaks apply across families: 25 to 99 pieces −6%, 100 to 499 −12%, 500 and up −18%.
